Works with KVM 04/16/2011
This review is from: SIIG JK-WR0312-S1 Black Wireless Multi-Touchpad Mini Keyboard
I use this with a cheap 16-port KVM to control 16 computers wirelessly from my desk (imaging station). Having the keyboard and touchpad in one unit makes it much easier to walk around or lean back in my chair while working on a computer. I have not had to click the "connect" buttons on the receiver and keyboard as is so common with most other wireless keyboards/mice. It connects immediately and can be used to enter a computer's BIOS.
The touchpad is perfect, just like a good quality laptop touchpad. The buttons aren't exceptionally tactile (clicky) but is fine for fast touch typists.
The keyboard overall is very sturdy with no flex. It's perfectly flat and only about 1/2" thick. Feels like a laptop for throw-your-feet-up-on-the-desk typing.
I wish there were no Numlock/10-key overlay. Yes, I know this can be disabled in the BIOS but I don't want to do this for each of 16 computers, especially since the 16 computers are replaced frequently. If there were a switch to force numlock off (override computer setting) I would be happy. I don't know anyone who actually uses the 10-key overlay pad on a laptop.
The fact that the keyboard has a slot on the bottom to stow the receiver when not in use is a bonus, so I am not removing any eggs for the fact that it doesn't hold the receiver as well as it should. It is fairly easy for the receiver to fall out of the keyboard, but that is only a concern if the keyboard travels between computers.
This is the BEST wireless keyboard I have found at any price. I now have 3, one for HTPC use, one for a 16 port KVM switch, and one for a DVD duplicating system that is on a rolling cart and didn't have space for a standard keyboard and mouse.
