"DRIP" coffee maker 04/24/2011
This review is from: Black & Decker DCM2160B Black 12-Cup Programmable
Few if any. When it works it does indeed make coffee, but an iron pot on a wood stove can make coffee too. I wanted a coffee maker to have a pot of coffee ready for me when I woke in the morning. Even when it was "working" it was really a gamble to see if the coffee would be waiting for me or not.
Carafe drips when trying to fill or pour coffee, like another reviewer said. Why did this need an all new design? The technology of a non drip lip has existed for thousands of years.
There is a replacement carafe that costs almost as much as the coffee maker, and it uses the 20,000 year old technology of a lip that doesn't drip. Hooray! Of course, it is made out of glass so thin that if you look at it cross-eyed it breaks.
Buttons in bad locations. Don't move things on your counter, the buttons are placed so that any bump changes the time. Surprise, now your coffee starts hours earlier than you expected.
Really? Start my coffee at midnight:00 sometimes, just to see if I'm keeping track? The technology of the alarm clock has also been here for a long time. USE IT. Your re-invention of it has gone horribly wrong.
One of two temperature switches opened and I had bypass it. With the timer having a mind of it's own, I couldn't even leave it plugged in overnight anymore.
I can not for the life of me imagine what these people were thinking. Doesn't set reasonably, the timer is worse than unreliable, it doesn't pour without dripping, the safety features break, and that is only part of the list.
It's a timer coffee-pot! It should act like one.
