UNTIL I pressed the reset button....normally you would think pressing the reset button would be fine, erase the settings, start over. Not in this case. IF you press the reset button, Netgear REQUIRES you to "renew your product key" before you can set it up again. The message claims you can call support to do this, but not if you had it more than 90 days. They actually tried to make me PAY ($40) to have my own product key "renewed"! I already bought it, why do I have to pay to "renew" it. Unbelievable!
Now I have an expensive 6-month old brick box sitting on my floor next to my router with my unaccessible backups. I plan on writing a letter to consumer reports after this. There was no disclaimer saying I would have to pay to be able to reset my device.
