Heavy, heavy bass, very rich and detailed, especially for cans with such great portability. Mids are great, but can get drowned out a little by the bass, although the bass really helps to enhance the lower mids. Treble is present and accounted for, it does not stick out very much, as most of your attention is drawn to the mids and bass, but when it comes up, the treble is very good. Overall, the sound quality is fantastic, about as good as I have ever heard in a portable headphone. The leatherette earpads and band are extremely comfortable, offering amazing isolation while keeping your ears cool.
The plastic material used for the headphone does not warrant a ton of confidence, but it is much better than Beats. The bass can get a little out of hand, but with a bit of EQ that can get cleaned right up.
These are right in the same category as Beats by Dre. They are portable headphones just over $200, with a very flashy design (personally I love the look). They are a basshead's dream; again why they are in competition with Beats, but that is not to say they aren't great all around headphones. The carbon fiber on the ear cups is a great aesthetic touch. Also remember that these are meant to be portable headphones, so they fold up very nicely into their included carrying case, and they are driven quite easily directly from a source (iPod, Zune, computer, etc.), but amping them does help. Anyway, if your are thinking about getting some Beats, stop immediately and buy these instead. Also, if you just like your music to sound great, again, buy these. I can't recommend these headphones heavily enough. And, oh yeah, buy them.
