Decent Record Recorder 10/14/2011
CHEAP, got it refurb for $30, and new @Radio Shack it's ~$80. Very easy to setup & use, installing & using itunes is harder than installing the included program; cd autoinstalls itunes record ripper software. Very simple interface, some limited capabilities, but very satisfied with music quality.
Size, it is quite large, and requires a flat surface to Hardest part of setting it up was unwrapping all of the packaging, which took more time than from the initial usb connection to recording records.
And, uhh... it's a record player... who knew records had two sides? Guess I am a little too young :). Don't forget to click off the needle arm lock near the head, cus it won't start with it on X)
Don't believe people who knock the software for not cutting songs into separate files (mine did it every time) or ones that say the recorder quality is bad, they are probably putting old/scratchy records on there that would sound bad normally; however, as a refurb item, you might get a bad needle, or some other problem, but worth the risk for this item IMO. Had my dad's Cold Blood album in itunes and on a cd in his car the same day I gave the turntable to him, ~3 hrs including the 7 track record (yes itunes can burn cd's, but you have to make a playlist w/ the songs you want on it, then click burn playlist). Did not try Audacity yet, but it might be nice to have mp3 format over itunes/apple, also some sound tweaking available w/ Audacity.
