This review is from: GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
My Biostar TF560 A2+ died after 3 yrs of running it really hard & I usually get only about 3 yrs out of any MOBO brand. Over the yrs I've used almost every MOBO brand & I never had any real problems with any of them. Good MOBO with everything that I was looking for in a newer up to date custom build with the possiblity of upgrading to AMD AM3+ or higher & overclocking.
When are the MOBO builders going to finally eliminate eveything that has anything to do with IDE. It's long overdue! In this BIOS there's Native IDE Mode that runs in conjunction with SATA & if you don't setup your O.S. at the intial install for SATA-AHCI, you're stuck in Native IDE Mode for all your drives. The 6GB SATA drives are supposed to be running at 6GB but you don't have available the extra stuff that AHCI has to offer. They finally got rid of the MOBO IDE connections & the FDD's.
This MOBO is a full ATX & needs almost a full tower case to fit it into with a +500 watt PSU. MOBO was easy to install, fit all my original MOBO standoffs, Gigabyte setup/install instructions were excellent, MOBO elements are well marked as to what they are, & Windows 7 64bit setup almost all of the devices automatically. To get the newer drivers go to the Gigabyte Web Site.
