Works as intended 11/28/2011
This review is from: Rosewill RC-217 SATA II 4 Port RAID 0/1/5/10 PCI RAID Card
Comes as advertised, works with SATA III devices. I can also speak to the support of Ubuntu Server 11.10 (mainly, that it does do that thing that I said). Stable, doesn't seem to introduce any errors. Cheap software raid.
Raid setup can be difficult to use, some options are missing for certain raid sets. PCI interface makes RAID 1 (mirror) the most viable RAID set since RAID 0 performance increase will be bottlenecked by the slow PCI interface.
-->PCI<--, NOT PCI-E of any flavor or speed. I knew this going into purchasing the card but think it is an important distinction worth mentioning several times. Good if you need to put 4 platter-disks into some sort of raid or just need more ports on your board. Not future proof though, so putting SSDs or any high-speed platter-disk on this controller is a complete waste of money.
