Blu-ray sure is fussy 12/12/2011
Seems fine with reading cds and dvds. Burned both okay too. Took me over a week to research everything enough to realize Blu-ray wasn't happening because of something called HDCP "High bandwidth copyright protection" The output signal of the drive was not permitted to play on my tv, or monitor (even though both were HDCP supported) because I needed to "reset" that is, at least in my case, going through a "source selection" procedure and unplugging then plugging back in my HDMI cable....DUH! I hope that maybe this helps someone out there.
Haven't had it long enough to know if there are any with the drive. Seems I have to have both my monitor AND my tv at least ON in order to play Blu-ray....I need to work on that, I guess. I haven't yet tried burning any Blu-ray discs, but intend to.
I bought my drive from another online place...for about half of this one's cost. Mine's a iHBS112/02. I did get software with it ie: Cyberlink BD solution 3D...which has PowerDvd10. Mine also came in a blister pack with nothing but the drive in it.
