This review is from: MSI P67A-G45 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
It works well, it has some nice features, I think it has the potential to be an excellent board. Newegg customer support, the best.
As mentioned by other buyers, the SATA ports are pointing straight up. This is a major design flaw, especially for a dual video card setup, let's talk about the northbridge heatsink, serious problems with the assembly of the northbridge, the thermal paste is not applied correctly, and is low quality, it's been an issue for quite a while with a lot of MSI motherboards. I'm taking 2 eggs based on that, my northbridge temperature dropped to around 43c at idle from 50-53c and max under load is around 65-70c, under load the northbridge was getting up to 130c it's a miracle that it did not cause the motherboard to fail. All I did was removed the chewing gum looking thermal paste and applied some Arctic Cooling paste that I keep in my tool bag. I can live with a video card pushing down on sata cables but critical component failure cost me money and time, I spent 3 hours working on the computer because
improper thermal paste installation on the northbridge heatsink.
In the event that you experience a similar issue with your board, I would check the northbridge to make sure it has proper thermal protection. MSI has dropped the ball on this, poor quality control will ruin your reputation, I will think real hard before I purchase another MSI board or any other MSI product. I expect the best product for the money at this time I don't feel like I got that from MSI.
