Defective HD, screw-you policy 08/19/2012
Business machine allows multitasking without straining resources: word processing with several multi-tabbed browsers, video, and folders. Sturdy machine (no ill effects from being dropped). Tech support has been reliable--always a short wait and knowledgeable solution to whatever the problem.
After a few months' use, a blue screen attributed a crash to a defect in the hard drive (320 GB Hitachi). To give it credit, the company promptly sent a replacement (refurbished, though, with settings from previous owner) and then for some reason a second. There were some serious problems with transferring contents from old to new drives: lost data probs and lack of technical professionals in small rural area. Mfr. did NOT say anything about returning the defective drive or provide a deadline for this. Two invoices totaling $350.00 arrived, predictably, but the accounting dept. would not consider the circumstance or flex. Their "system will not allow it." So if something breaks and you can't respond quickly enough for the Lenovo system, you may wish you had bought another brand. You may wish that anyway if you pay from $1500. to $900. for a machine that is advertised to be ultra-reliable and isn't.
Lost time and money for the owner, to say nothing of associated stress, are entirely the fault of the company that built this machine with a defective HD, so blaming the customer and issuing veiled threats--pay up, return the drives, or spend the next year fixing your credit rating as well as the computer--is not good. This is a reason to choose another brand.
