Helps a bit 09/05/2012

This little thing helps take the guesswork out of making hard boiled eggs ...to a point (see cons).
I placed cold water in a pot, placed 6 jumbo eggs in the pot along with this item. Right off the bat there was a bunch of debris that floated to the top. Some of it red and some of it misc colors.
There are no instructions so I wasn't sure what to expect.
The item starts to turn white in color, starting from the outside and working it's way to the center until the item is completely white. I'm assuming this means the eggs are done. Apparently I was wrong as I immediately cracked open one of the eggs under cold water and found that the inside wasn't COMPLETELY cooked.
It was edible and all but still, I feel like I'm going to have to wait a few additional minutes AFTER the item turns white to ensure the eggs are in fact hard boiled. This is a little disappointing.
Overall, it's a cool idea. I'm going to take my friends advice and poke a hole in the top and bottom of the eggs with a pin before cooking next time. Maybe if I do that, I won't have to wait additional minutes after the item turns white. Only time will tell.
I have to go now, I have eggs to eat :D
