4 out 5 dead within 2 years. 10/12/2012
The cost was right. The reliability wasn't.
80% failure within 2 years is not good.
I originally bought 4 of these, and within a year 1 died. RMAed it. Then after year 1, the other 3 non refurbished ones died. Unfortunately, I purchased these during the time they only had 1 year warranty, so there goes the RMA. Really getting tired of the 1, 2, 3, maybe 5 year warranties. With all the failures, it really doesn't matter about price per GB. How can we select reliability?

Western Digital does rigorously test and verify all of our drives, prior to shipping, with burn-in and diagnostic tests. We stand behind our warranty for the duration of the products provided warranty period, and as such, we are here to support our products regardless of the circumstances, and will replace your device no questions asked.
