This review is from: ASUS RT-N56U Wireless Router Dual Band N600 Multimedia Ultra Slim Gigabit 802.11a/b/g/n support USB Storage, Print and Media Server
Pros:
Great - when it works....... But, read on........
Cons:
Constant rebooting (about 3 times a week). Reboot frequently fails - about once a week - and requires power off/on to wake the unit up. Most important, read my "other thoughts" regarding the support for this unit (RT-N56U)........ Yes, I have downloaded the most recent version of firmware for this unit and the frequency of rebooting HAS INCREASED since doing so. Current version is "1.0.1.8n" as of 10-28-2012
Overall Review:
It is very obvious after accessing the "user interface" for the RT-N56U that whomever wrote the ENGLISH version did/does not understand the correct SYNTAX for the ENGLISH language. This will also become VERY apparent when trying to contact USER SUPPORT from the U.S. First, just try to find a CONTACT number for ASUS support - go luck just getting to chat with someone (phone contact is NOT AVAILABLE through their support website). Email chat person might respond to your query for help within 3 or 4 days (that's right, 3 or 4 DAYS..!!) When they do respond - good luck reading the garbage they call ENGLISH........ Tried today, 10-28-2012, to chat via email (since no phone contact is available) and the website led me into a loop and then simply hung......
Manufacturer Response:
Dear Mike,
I apologize for the issues you have experienced with your RT-N56u router and with ASUS support. Please contact me at cl-jeremy@asus.co so that I can help you with your problems. There are beta versions on firmware that I can provide you that may help. Otherwise I can get you a replacement router as long as you are still within your warranty.
I can assure you that I speak English and am willing to help you with whatever needs you have. I cannot change the syntax in the firmware, but I can assist you in any other way.
Regards,
Jeremy
