8350 commentary 11/11/2012
This review is from: AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 4.0 GHz (4.2 GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W FD8350FRHKBOX Desktop Processor
Pros:
1))New Amd Flagship based on the Piledriver Architecture(7-10% better than Bulldozer at same clocks).2)) Massive multi-thread performance for $220, easily beats Intel cpu's in this category.3)) Single-threaded performance is on par with Phenom II series in games and most benchmarks. 4)) High overclocking potential, my sample ended up at overclocked setting of 4.65 at 1.46 voltage and on a Asus 990FX Sabertooth. 5)) Lower temperatures at OC setting 55max,22 idle with H80 cooler. Overall, i would recommend 8350 to anyone who seeks an upgrade for their Amd platform or creating new rig. It performs excellent and doesn't empty the customers wallet.
Cons:
1)) Still lower Single thread performance compared to Intel i5 and i7 cpus. 2)) High power consumption at full load, especially when overclocked.
3))Also the stock cooler sucks, get an aftermarket cooler to keep the cpu cool at full load.
Overall Review:
Overall, this is an awesome cpu which is good for gaming, image processing or video editing or other workloads. With 8 cores(4M/8core) it is a strong contender since multi-thread software and games are increasing as time passes. Low single thread performance is not a big enough con for this cpu.
