Timing not automatic 12/04/2012
Does test out.
Timing is stated at 9-9-9-24, but I only get this if I turn on XMP in the bios. Default is 11-11-11-30. My other memory (different manufacturer) works at 9 in default mode. I guess you are out of luck if your motherboard doesn't do XMP.
Would buy something else next time because I think this should be stated in the details more clearly - it just says compatible with XMP, not that it is actually required to get the speed.
The JEDEC standard for DDR3 is DDR3-1600 CL11 and DDR3-1333 CL9. All DDR3 motherboards can only AUTO default up to these values. This allows memory to work in most DDR3 motherboards. To reach performance values, the XMP Profile is required, or manual settings. So if you have a performance motherboard, it will support XMP. The above mentioned is true for any brand of memory; it is an industry wide standard. Your other memory is defaulting to DDR3-1333 CL9, not DDR3-1600 CL9.
