This review is from: ZALMAN CNPS9900ALED 120mm 2 Ball Low-noise Blue LED CPU Cooler
This cooler performs so well that I'm updating a previous review.
The 1155 bracket kit was a colossal pain in the *** to install, but it was worth the trouble.
It still doesn't cook bacon.
Using this cooler to replace the stock Intel HSF, the difference in temps are like night and day. With the stock HSF on the Core I5-3570K, I was getting around 40 to 42 degrees Celsius at the stock 3.4Ghz speed while idle.
After installing the CNPS9900, I am currently able to overclock the CPU to 4.12Ghz. With Prime95 hammering all four cores, my temps have yet to get above 40 degrees Celsius.
Ambient room temperature is 22 degrees Celsius.
This HSF is obviously capable of higher overclocks, but it's pretty much overkill at this point. An extra 700Mhz out of this processor is plenty fast for my needs today.
As the thermal grease goes through a couple of thermal cycles, I may see another one to two degree drop over time. It's a marginal improvement, but I suppose every little bit helps.
