This review is from: HighPoint Rocket 620 PCI-Express 2.0 x1 SATA III (6.0Gb/s) Controller Card
-Useful if you're out of SATA ports
-Useless drivers on CD
-Constant BSODs, needed to refer to reviewers for support
-Doesn't improve speeds at all
I bought this to hook my SATA III SSD up so I could have better speeds than what my SATA II mobo is offering. I installed the card and the SSD at the same time and was getting BSODs. I had to refer to the reviews to understand that I shouldn't hook the SSD up first. I also came to discover that the drivers were useless on the CD and had to download the Marvell drivers that a reviewer kindly included.
After all of that trouble of BSODs and hooking my SSD up back and forth between my motherboard and the card, I decided to test my read speeds with HD Tune. I discovered that my speeds were in fact a few MB/s slower and the access time was higher.
If you're buying this product to get SATA III speeds, don't. I ended up stuffing it in my computer closet. It may be useful later on if I need to use it as a source for extra SATA ports.
Also, it was plugged in my mobo's PCIe x1 2.0 bus so bottlenecks weren't the issue.
