Broke on me today 12/17/2012
This review is from: NETGEAR ReadyNAS Ultra 2-bay (diskless) w/ 3 yr warranty
Faster than my d-link, hot swappable (maybe never tried it cause it broke on me before I could), software is ok
Slow on apple TV, not a real iTunes server (it only sees music).
The real killer is that the 3 year warranty is useless. because you can't get it replaced if you don't have an extended phone support, which only lasts 3 months. This thing broke in 4 months. Phone support to get a replacement (online) cost $75. Good thing I hung up on the guy that told me that he had the best deal at $129.99 when I first called. He wouldn't send me to the "expert" until I paid it. In conclusion I paid $75 to get a replacement sent to me. (USED or REFURBISHED) Died after the service warranty expired. What a rip-off. I'm try the synology next time. After I get my replacement, I'm selling this. I can't TRUST it anymore. They lost me as a customer.
I don't TRUST Netgear anymore. I though I'd try them. But no more after this.
That's just shady.
Companies just don't get it...word of mouth is huge. If they had not made me pay for support, and just gave me the replacement, I would have told everyone about them and used them at my company.
Netgear, TRUST is important.
