Burns Blu-Rays and DVDs Okay 12/20/2012
This review is from: ASUS Black 12X Blu-ray Burner SATA BW-12B1ST/BLK/G/AS
Burns DVDs and blu-ray data discs, and plays DVD commercial movies.
No software is included but open-source DVD and blu-ray burn software is available online. The problem is that no currently available software will play recent blu-ray commercial movies. My Cyberlink DVD 11 Ultra cannot play blu-ray and their tech response is a complex Windows software patching procedure which they say might work, but their ads claim that Cyberlink plays blu-ray. It's the same procedure offered by some open-source websites. Blu-ray offerings have declined significantly at rental websites like Redbox.
If you want to burn blu-ray discs for data storage, a BDXL burner may be better due to its ability to put over 100GB of data on a single blu-ray disc. A blu-ray burned on this drive can have a maximum of only about 25GB, considerably smaller capacity than a more affordable USB 3.0 32GB drive.
