Power on then off then on again loop!! 12/28/2012
This review is from: GIGABYTE GA-Z68A-D3H-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros:
Inexpensive, "works", but only with 8 GB (2x 4GB), see below.
Cons:
Same as others; encountering the no POST boot loop. Boots and runs fine with memory installed in slots 3 & 4, will boot loop with any combo that includes RAM in slots 1 & 2. I got this board Christmas 2011 and just used RAM in 3&4 for a year, got 2 more identical 4GB sticks of Corsair Vengeance 1600 for Christmas this year and cannot use them because of the issue with slots 1 & 2. I had hoped it would be resolved with all 4 slots occupied but no go. Shame on me for not returning it last year. Tried several things: setting BIOS fail safe defaults (with TWO sticks of RAM since at least it boots then), clearing CMOS and updating to latest BIOS did not help. Not happy with this board for this reason alone. No reply from Gigabyte yet sadly.
Overall Review:
I would be %100 percent happy if the board worked with RAM in slots 1 through 4. Even. Set memory to 1333 with no result. As it is I'm not able to upgrade my PC which is disappointing.
