Boot-Ram Issues 01/12/2013
This review is from: ASUS P8Z77-V LX LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Feature rich with a good assortment of card sockets for my catchall build. Combined with a PCIEx1 Adapter Card to provide an IDE interface for two removable hard drive cartridge cases. Also installed two PCIEx1 tuner cards with one using the 16x4 slot. The CPU is an Ivy Bridge i3-3225. I Used the CPU Graphics. OS is Win8 Pro with WMC.
Did not boot as others have reported. However, by using the "A" set of ram slots only, it boots as a single channel memory with no noticeable performance issues. I put a pair of 4G DDR3-1333 rams into A1 and A2 and all worked well. Any ram placed into the B ram slots prevents boot and the constant error light on.
I have built a half dozen of the i series from all three generations. I most gentle in the placement of the CPU onto the socket. It was dropped gently onto the socket in proper position. Since the board works well for me in this single channel mode, I will not go through the agony of return and all that entails.
Win8 Experience ratings:
Hard Disk 5.9
A i5-3570K would have been nice but I was on a budget re-build job with this one. :)
