Fan Spikes Every 5 Minutes at Idle 01/14/2013
Install was a very nice experience.
Running my system at idle for about an hour the fan on PSU goes from being completely off to 100% full in about 3 seconds then turns itself off right after that.
On my Kill-a-Watt meter the wattage is at a range of 130Watts to 140Watts running at idle, when the fan spikes the wattage remains in that range. When it spikes and I am monitoring both the CPU usage and the GPU as well I am not seeing any spikes, so to me it seems like it just a function of the PSU.
This is very annoying, I would rather it spin a little bit all the time then blast warm air out of it every 5 minutes. I have recently read on the web that others recently are having this issue as well, so if it is a bad production run I would like to get something different.
I have never returned an item to NewEgg so I have to figure out that process works with a "Standard" return.
