Good, but Could Be Better 01/23/2013
This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes
Amazing performance for the price.
Nice and quiet for my environment.
Ability to upgrade to push/pull.
Direct heat pipes.
Difficult to install for AMD sockets.
Plastic brackets, instead of metal clips.
While this CPU cooler is good performance-wise, it is very difficult to install on AMD sockets. The mounting components for Intel sockets seem to be better made than the ones from AMD. You have to hold the AMD clip together while you install. I really like the performance for the price, but CoolerMaster could've done a MUCH better job on the mounting clip for AMD. Why not just make the clip one piece? I can't fathom why CoolerMaster made this decision...
However, don't let this discourage you from purchasing this cooler. It is very good at cooling my CPU. Running linpack on my stock cooler and at stock clock/volts, I'd reach 70c very quick. With this cooler and an overclock from 3.2 to 3.8 on my Phenom II x4 955 BE, I've only reached 59c after half an hour. So, it's a great cooler, just be ready for the difficult installing.
