Nice cooler for my GTX470's 02/15/2013
If you get it at the $99.99 price then it's a really great deal. dropped my idle temp of my dual MSI GTX470's (non-oc) over 40 degrees at idle and about 25 at full load. Seriously, card 1 ran idle at about 70C. I saw many other people claiming theirs ran in the high 30's or 40's but I've never had a nVidia card run that cool, ever. Not even at idle. But with this cooling system, I dropped from the mid 70's to the low 30's At 100% load on both cards, they get up to about 45c. a HUGE difference in the amount of heat coming out of my machine. I have a Corsair T800 case so I had plenty of room to mount both radiators on the top vent. Unit runs very quiet, I can barely hear it even with full load.
Install may be tricky for novice builder. Having worked in the IT field for years and being a nerd in general, I didn't really have any issues with the install. Some people complained it was hard to mount the outer shell with the heat sync on it to the card due to the radiator and hoses being pre-connected (for obvious reasons). But having dealt with this in the past when I installed my Corsair H80 CPU cooler, I was sort of prepared for this. It is time consuming but it is not difficult if you follow the instructions and don't try to go move too fast.
Seems a little pricey if you pay the full $169.99 for this, but if you get the sale price then I think it's a great deal, especially for gamers and overclockers.
Install can be tricky but I found that having a nice flat, clear work area and waiting the appropriate time for the heat sync glue to dry will make things a LOT easier. Planning ahead, I had almost no issue mounting the outer shell to the card once the heat syncs were dry. If you get anxious and don't wait the required hour dry time, you will probably knock a couple of them of trying to put it together. Fully dry they stay on nice and firm and won't pop off if you bump them.
