4 out of 5 eggs Let down by cheap screws 03/30/2013

This review is from: SilverStone FP55B Aluminum Front Panel 3.5" to a 5.25" Bay Converter

Pros:

These are nice chunky all-metal adapters. The front textured metal face-plate is secured by screws so you can easily remove it for fitment, since it protrudes beyond the sides slightly. It's also great to have the option of using it for both 2.5" and 3.5" drives. I'm using a pair of these in the optical bays of a Mac Pro and they work great.

Cons:

The screws. Really. These come with the cheapest screws I've ever come across for anything. They take the form of a screw, they will fit on the end of a screwdriver, they are even a bit shiny like a screw. But just using my finger-tip and thumb-tip on the screwdriver to tighten them and they strip out. It also seems like an oversight to not have a rubber grommet system for vibration dampening when the rest is so nice.

Other Thoughts:

Like others have mentioned applying the screws for a 3.5" drive is a bit tricky. I found it pretty easy to do once I dipped the tip of my screwdriver into some rubber cement to hold the screw on, then navigate Operation-like into the adapter.
