Great little CPU, I'm impressed! 04/23/2013
The price is a big selling point of course, but until you buy one you'll have no idea just what a great deal this is.
I just finished a client build with an A75 motherboard, and I couldn't be more pleased.
Last night I fired up Skyrim with the pc on a 24 inch monitor, 1080p. The game originally detected my hardware and set the graphics settings to HIGH. The game intro was a little choppy, so I dropped the settings detail to medium. After that it was like butter.
There is only one con I've encountered. It appears there is no analog video. I have been unsuccessful at using a DVI to VGA converter to get analog video.
I am going under the assumption that since the video is on die that there are no analog components on the APU. Also the motherboard does not have a northbridge, so I believe there is no analog video available. I could be all wet, but I haven't seen any documentation either way.
This could be limited to my motherboard, but my understanding is that all A75 motherboard are without a northbridge which traditionally has handled the duties of integrated video.
The CPU temp has been running a bit higher than I expected using a low cost liquid cooler, 40-50C although I did see an idle temp today of 35C.
I spent quite a bit of time testing this computer, over a month and it really performed well above my expectations. I can't say enough nice things about this, but I will say that I was very impressed with the gaming performance and overall system responsiveness. I played a number of A list titles, including Portal, Skyrim, Mass Effect, and Dirt 3. No, you can't max out Crysis 3, but did you really expect to for under a hunnerd bux?
I am a gamer, modder and enthusiast and have been building systems for over 15 years.
