Great PC! 05/07/2013
Honestly this is a great desktop PC for the price. I upgraded from a custom PC I built in 2005. It was state-of-the-art at the time but the i660 does circles around it.
Windows is extremely fast and smooth! I've been running HD videos and using other applications at the same time and not even a hint of lag. My old PC literally came to a screeching halt when I would try and load a 1080p video alone. Boot-up time is extremely fast as well.
I also use this PC to run various virtual machines. It handles this task very well!
I do like the fact that there is room inside to expand if you want to add internal hardware such as a second hard drive, DVD/Blu-Ray player, video card, etc.
While this is not a con about the machine itself, I do not like the fact that it came with Windows 8 instead of Windows 7. Windows 8 is just too much of a "tablet" operating system to be functional on a desktop PC. Not a problem though. I wiped the hard drive and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Couldn't be happier.
While the internal sound card works fine at the core, the line-in has a slight latency. Thought it was a driver issue so I updated it but there is still latency issues. It's probably half a millisecond but enough to create issues for me. I play piano and record tracks. The latency inhibits my ability to play fluently. Half a millisecond may be small but makes a HUGE difference in the world of music. After much research, I've come to the conclusion that I'll either need to purchase a separate card or some kind of audio interface. That is a bit disappointing but manageable.
If you already have the monitors and speakers, this is a great guy for the price. Highly recommended!
