I bought this print server for a client. I connected the hardware, then (following the instructions) I booted the CD that came with this device. The setup utility launched as expected. I then clicked on 'Setup Wizard'. This did not launch anything. Tried several times but same result. Sort of a bad omen of things to come but not really a problem for me as I am well familiar with setting up printers. I pinged what I was confident was the IP address the DHCP had assigned to the server and it responded. I was then able to open up the server's web UI. I configured the printer to use a TCP/IP port and tried to print a WIndows test page. No print. I tried turning off bidirectional communication. I tried changing the server's IP from dynamic to a static address. Would not print. The server's web UI showed that it did recognize the printer and ID'ed correctly as an HP Laserjet 1020. I could ping the server with both the DHCP lease assigned 192.168.1.102 as well as the static 192.168.1.50. I even tried creating an LPR port. Would not print.

Other Thoughts:

Except for setting up Wireshark and capturing a network trace to see what is going over the wire, I am out of ideas. I have created an incident with IO Gear's support but I am not confident that will resolve anything and I will end up returning it.
