Works but Clicks 06/28/2013
This review is from: Seagate ST310005N1A1AS-RK 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Retail Packaging
Pros:
Nice slim drive design. Pretty lightweight compared to other drives I've come across in that form factor. Good price.
Cons:
This drive clicks almost every time it's accessed. Its the sound from the head parking when going into power save or idle state. It's extremely annoying. It can be heard over an A.C running and computer fan noise (about 6 fans). BEWARE! Seagate's website states this is normal hard drive sound and functionality. I've got a 10k rpm western digital velocitraptor and a western digital caviar black edition and I've never heard any kind of parking clicks as loud as this drive exhibits. Luckily in my case I'm using the drive in a media server and its too far away from me to hear any annoying clicking.
Overall Review:
I will be sticking to western digital drives.
