Great specs but major random issues 07/19/2013
Lots of USB slots, great specs, 3 x pcix slots, USB BIOS flash update tool is easy to use.
- i purchased this board because it is spec'ed to be able to do use DDR3 1866 Mhz ram without being overclocked. I went out of my way and spent $100 more for vendor approved ram off of the mobos website (Corsair Dominator 32 gb 1866). When i booted the system, ram defaulted at 1333 which is fine. Then i changed the bios settings to XMP mode with 1866. It ran fine for the first 31 days but then the machine started to restart randomly during bootup and in windows (nothing was overclocked). After countless days of testing and speaking with asus tech support (who were very helpful), i eventually decided that i was wasting to much time trying to figure out the issue. I dropped it off at a local service spot and after extensive tests they determined it was a bad board. Of course it is 2 days over new eggs return policy so now i have a dead board and waiting for the new one to be RMA'ed to me. I will update this review once i get it.
- Also, this mobo's onboard audio drivers (realtek hd audio) caused my windows media player library to go haywire and delete and reload constantly.
This is my second asus board (i loved my first one - it ran great!), and i typically love asus products. But to be honest, i was planning on buying an ASUS Titan video card and now i am having second thoughts. I hope the ASUS team can RMA my product quickly (even though they ship ground!) so i can get back online asap.
