Beware Dropped Packets 08/19/2013
This review is from: Edimax EW-7822UAC Wireless AC1200 Dual-band USB 3.0 Adapter, Complies to Draft 802.11ac Standard, Delivers More Than Two Times Faster Wi-Fi Speed Than 802.11n, With Adjustable Foldaway Antenna for Optimum High Performance
Does get good speeds, generally works well for web browsing and non intensive TCP / web applications / programs. But then again so does every other wireless adapter
I bought this to pair with my SLI laptop and brand new ASUS RT-AC66U router to run multiple copies of World of Warcraft on my laptop at the same time (multi-boxing). I also got an 802.11ac media bridge from HD, so all my computers in the house could run 802.11ac, and other electronics (like ipods) could run on the lower band 802.11n / g networks.
Things worked well, I got a lot of lag on my laptop running 3 clients. I thought it was just the laptop having trouble handling everything. One day I plugged into the router with a wired connection, as I left this adapter in a drawer, and to my surprise everything ran perfectly.
I tried with a different wireless adapter, and with the HD media bridge, both non-Asus products as well (as the router was ASUS). This adapter is the problem, it just drops A LOT of packets when teamed up with an 802.11ac router, which was causing all the lag. Not it's just a wasted piece of trash in my drawer, waste of money.
Paid extra to completely set up a whole 802.11ac network. I already had a wired connection and an 802.11n network, but I trusted that this work work better and faster. Just ended up being a waste of money.
