vSphere - Monitoring Issues 09/06/2013
Plenty of memory slots, seems stable
Now a new problem has risen. After you finally get vSphere installed, the IPMI starts screwing up. First I show a temp of 41 degrees on one processor, 43 degrees on the second. Within 30 minutes the temp starts screwing up and both cpu's start showing 94 degrees in vCenter or just by checking in the vSphere Client. Resetting the sensors in vSphere does nothing. You literally have to shut the server down to fix the problem. When you go into the BIOS you will see there is nothing wrong, the temp is right there at the 40 celcius range.
This is still not enough to make me pack it up and send it back, but rather annoying because I really would like to know if the CPU was overheating. I can still monitor the fan speeds but I cannot really trust the IPMI at this point.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Our technician has tried to duplicate the issue with vSphere Clinet、VCenter、IPMI Command to check CPU temperature, but does not see this symptom.
Could you please provide us how do you setup VM, and server environment (maybe you can capture some vSphere Client or Vcenter picture for us), what is server doing during this 30 minutes and how do you check temperature…..information?
