BSOD crashes 09/21/2013
This review is from: StarTech USB2VGAE3 USB to VGA External Video Card Multi Monitor Adapter – 1920x1200
Works fine if you do not stress it by switching programs on the laptop.
Closing a program brings immediate hard crash. Sometimes loads a jpg, sometimes not. Hot swap = crash.
I am running this to a Viewsonic projector. Perhaps this device cannot handle that.
Thank you for taking the time to review our USB2VGAE3 video adapter. We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced, and we have some suggestions which may help.
If you still have the unit, please try uninstalling and reinstalling the video adapter to see if this remedies the problem. Instructions for these procedures can be found in our frequently updated FAQ section. This, along with up-to-date product drivers, are available at the following link: http://www.startech.com/AV/USB-Video-Adapters/USB-VGA-Multi-Monitor-Video-Adapter~USB2VGAE3#dnlds.
Also, disabling hardware acceleration may help improve performance. Hardware acceleration causes programs to use the graphics card, in this case the adapter, for processing and displaying all the images on the screen, which can lead to performance issues. To avoid these problems, it is best to disable hardware acceleration in applicable programs, so the computer’s processor can handle this processing. To do this, please follow directions outlined in this FAQ: http://www.startech.com/faq/USB_Video_Adapter_Hardware_Acceleration#USB2VGAE3.
If after reinstalling the newest drivers the blue screen issue persists, please do not hesitate to contact us directly. We have opened case number 303-221858 for you, so please reference this number and we will be more than happy to help you further.
