This review is from: G-Technology G-Drive(Gen 5) 2TB 7200 RPM Professional High-Performance EXternal Hard Drive USB 3.0/ Firewire800 Silver (0G02529)
Pros:
USB 3.0 + firewire daisy chaining
Cons:
My boss and i went in on two 2tb g-drives one for backup and the other for mobility. both had problems after less than a year there is a reason most traditional spinning disk hard drives come with a five year warranty they aren't supposed to have many problems until then and the manufacturer knows this. it was a large project from footage collected before i was hired and had dealt with many cheaper non professional solutions and found them better than these overpriced drives. i slapped one of the hitachis that is inside and compensated my boss and the drive works awesome i have a 1tb drive from ten years ago is runs better than these G-Drive has a definite problem with the enclosure. I had had two lacie's for longer than that i'm all lacie now. buy a 7200 hitachi bare drive and buy a better enclosure you'll probably save money.
Overall Review:
not to mention lacie raid solutions are cheaper than g-drive as well and most of the studios i work with prefer lacie.
