Works well for scanning bound material 10/14/2013
This review is from: Plustek OpticBook 3800 (783064354806) 1200 dpi USB 2.0 Interface Flatbed Scanner
Scans bound material well because there is no edge you can get the materials to wrap around the scanner enough to get to the inner margin of the page. Even if loose some with the material tight against the edge you can move it where middle part of the book or mag is sitting directly on the glass and still get a good scan of the inner margin because there is no "lip" on the scanner to get in the way.
Scan quality could be better I find that I need to do some post processing in photo shop to get the best results. This is NOT a good scanner for doing photo enlargements as the quality of the scans are not enough for that. For digitizing a collection of out or print magazines, as I am doing it works great. Build quality could be better as well sometimes the scanner makes odd noises time will tell how long it lasts.
