Great For What It Is 10/16/2013
This is a chromebook -- meaning it's a device you use to access the internet using Google chrome and chrome apps. It isn't a regular laptop, and if you are looking for a regular laptop, this isn't it. If, however, you prefer to have a device that stands on its own and has a keyboard rather than a tablet device's input system, and you primarily use the internet and web apps, then this is a good choice. Most of the people who are disappointed with the chromebooks simply expected them to be a very cheap laptop, or a kind of tablet with a keyboard. It's neither of those. It's a device specifically designed for people who spend most of their time on the internet, using Chrome and other Google services -- and it provides that in a very streamlined, user-friendly way.
It's a tad heavy for a device of this type. The keyboard will take some getting used to for most users.
Know what you are looking for.
For me, who spends most of my home computer time on the internet browsing and posting and so on, this thing is fantastic. For someone who wants to use a lot of Windows apps on a laptop, obviously this isn't the device for you. It's a kind of niche device for people like me. In the end, you have to know what you want, and how you use a device, and then compare that to what a chromebook does in order to determine whether it's the right fit for you.
