2 out of 5 eggs Somewhat Functional Product, Terrible Support 10/16/2013

This review is from: ASUS Z87-EXPERT LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros:

Great features, so many 6Gb SATA, really utilizing latest Intel chipset features to their potential

Cons:

I purchased RAM for this board specifically based on ASUS published documents (Patriot Viper). First boot and got ASUS Q Code 51 (a memory error according to manual). Additionally, my VGA attached monitor would not achieve native resolution 1920x1200 (it limited to 1920x1080, although ASUS publishes on their website higher support from this port). I switched monitors, cables, etc - no matter, the maximum resolution from VGA did not change. Driver un/re-installs from both ASUS and directly from Intel have been no help. I've supported enterprise IT infrastructures for years, let's say the basics are covered.
I submitted a support ticket on ASUS website 7/17/2013 specifically requesting help for memory errors. The response the following day was to check my monitor cables and reinstall drivers, nevermind the initial request spelled out what I had done. With that in mind I respectfully stated I had tried that and asked that we troubleshoot the memory errors. The second response was to try another monitor. Again, no help for memory. Set aside the remainder of the details, I never received any help what-so-ever for the memory errors. Three months later, a BIOS update resolved them. A BIOS update that ASUS' BIOS update tool could not detect was available, I just decided to check their site directly.
My VGA monitor will still not adjust to 1920x1200, even though every other computer I attach it to supports the resolution just fine.

Overall Review:

When you sign up for an ASUS account and when you register your product, your occupation and technical skill level are requested. Why doesn't ASUS use this information and adjust their responses accordingly. Better still, why not just read the content of the request and answer accordingly. Furthermore, why not answer all of the questions asked?
