This review is from: Xerox SolidQube 8570/DN Color Solid Ink Printer
Superb color printing.
Cost and repairs. If you're a home user who only prints color every now and then this printer is not for you.
Unlike the other IT tech who commented how great this model is I am here to counter his comment, as a certified Xerox tech I can tell you what will go wrong and about what time it will happen.
You can plan on some major repairs around 80,000 - 120,000 pages. The process drive assy, maintenance camshaft, drum maint pivot plate, media drive assy, electronic control assy, and print head are going to go bad. Around 120,000 pages and up you can plan on replacing the transfix arms and cam assy.
Then there is the problem with the process drive mounting pins which will snap off, the only way to repair that is to use a kit from Xerox where you have to drill out the old pins and install the new metal kit.
Unlike laser printers and inkjet printers these solid ink Xerox printers have a lot of moving parts which are synched and work in timing with each other, one part goes bad and the whole printer is down.
I think everyone should know the truth about what they are buying and if you're going to spend this much money on a printer you should know the inherent problems that equipment will have. Now Xerox support is great and if you have warranty they get you back up and running ASAP.
