No Concept of tech knowledge 11/23/2013
This is a very good media device if built with some knowledge and common sense.
First thing is using proper OS. Windows 7 is a bad fit especially anything above Home Premium. Anyone building this system with these higher versions of Windows 7 are showing instantly they have very low tech knowledge. This CPU is meant for Linux, Windows 7 Basic although Home Premium may work. Windows 8 Pro or below should work fine also but Linux is probably the better OS for such a low powered CPU.
SSD, fanless cases should not have mechanical drives in them. Put as little strain on the power supply as possible. If you have a need to use a mechanical drive put it in an powered external case and set up to boot from USB but if you are going to leave this on for long periods to use as a DVR you need an SSD or an external case with power supply and a cooling fan for mechanical drives.
Too many reviews here by people trying to put super car OSes on economy car PC. I have built PCs with these specs and it can be built to be a very functional htpc but you need to use a small foot print OS, hook very little to the computer. If multiple USB devices are needed use one USB port and use a USB hub with its own power supply. Network drives and cloud services are best for a computer like this.
Don't blame the equipment because you designed a computer on a portal device. This device can be a great cheap streaming system using cloud drives or a NAS for personal storage.
