Great MOBO 11/29/2013
Build quality is great, and a BIG bonus that I was not expecting was the *FREE* RAMDISK feature that comes with the Command Center software - saved me $30 since I didn't have to buy a 3rd-party RAMDISK software like I did with my last build using an ASUS mobo.
Also the fastest boot time on a computer I've built. With RAID enabled, mobo boot time is about 8 seconds; Windows booted in about 13 seconds after that with Haswell i7 and SSD HDD.
Make sure that you enable RAID mode before installing the OS if you are planning on using RAID mode...Windows started acting up when I changed from AHCI to RAID, even though the primary drive was not in a RAID group. Fortunately, I hadn't gotten very far in the installation and it was no big deal to reformat and reinstall.
The RAID feature is hidden pretty well, and the manual provides no insight. Found a video on Youtube that walked me through it.
The manual states that if you put in 32GB of RAM, it will only detect 31GB due to chipset resource limits. :(
I would suggest against updating the Realtek audio drivers, and just using what comes on the CD. I downloaded the latest drivers, and everything started messing up; when I tried to roll back I got nothing but constant blue screens and had to reformat and reinstall the OS.
If there is a close call between an ASUS and MSI mobo, I will now choose MSI just for the free RAMDISK.
