beginner gamer keyboard. 12/08/2013
This review is from: Corsair CH-9000043-NA Raptor K30 Red LED Backlit Keyboard
I recommend this keyboard for gamers who play strategy or mmo type games. as it doesn't work well for first person shooters.
the keyboard looks cool, and feels quite rugged.
the shape of the keyboard prevents any spilled liquids from going inside of the keyboard.
the keyboard has a red backlight which shines through the keys.. however they are not as bright as i would like. in daylight or a well lit room, you can't see the backlight. if the room is pitch black it looks fine. but if there is any lights on, it looks pink. its not anywhere near as bright as my corsair k90 keyboard.
the keys feel inadequate, i prefer a key that is easy to push and responds quickly without having to press it very far. with my large hands i found it difficult to get to "crouch" the control key without accidentally pushing the G6 button at the same time.
this is a reasonable beginner keyboard.
if you are looking for a basic keyboard, there is probably a few cheaper options, however if you want a step up from that, something that will last awhile, and be resistant to abuse, and spills, this keyboard might suit your needs. if you need something more, such as a usb hub on the keyboard, brighter backlight, different color, mechanical keys or more macro buttons, there are other options. corsair has many other keyboards available with those features.
i personally use a k90, and i wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
my keyboard did not come with any software to configure macros for the G keys.
I had to go to the corsair website to find software. you will not find it under the downloads section.
instead go to products/gaming peripherals/gaming keyboards/ to to page 2.. the k30 will be at the bottom.
click the k30 and it will take you to a page about it, click downloads, and your download will be the "software update"
