5 out of 5 eggs So Far So Good 12/10/2013

This review is from: Sony 40" 1080P Direct LED HDTV - KDL-40R450A

Pros:

Received Yesterday in standard brown box : / Packaging was well secured with air bags. Let unit warm up before turning on and everything seems to be working fine. Both HDMI slots work. The component Bl/Gr/Rd connection supports standard composite, ReD/White/Y. Sound is not as bad as i would have thought, Goes to 99 and in an average sized room 40 is enough to hear without distortion and still be distinct in range of sound. Menus are easily navigated and functions are sufficient.
Picture- Quality is pretty darn good, although this is my first LED/LCD t.v... i have seen quite a few and this is better than most i have seen
Using PS3 for games looks great, Netflix looks great through Chromecast and PS3.
Cable stations in 480 look good, but Digital stations in 720p and 1080i look Great. I have basic cable and am able to get at least 10 1080i stations as well as 720p stations.
Extremely lightweight and slim panel as well as edges.
Motion is what you would expect at 60Hz ok for most things, but not good enough for a gamer/sports junkie.
Remote is comfortable in hand and easy to navigate, has a V-grove in middle of the back which makes it nice to hold in my larger hands.
Overall I am pleased with the purchase considering It was only a 25$ t.v... Sold 2 PS4's and made 300$.. Although i've only had it for a day, i think/hope/crosses fingers the t.v. will last, For my 1st HDTV I couldn't have done much better without spending 1000$. Now to the Cons/Dissapointment list

Cons:

-Sony doesn't offer extended refurbished warranty, but only 90 days.
-Its refurbished ...However maybe its better that way
-Only 2 HDMI's, but this doesn't really bother me as much as disappoint, I plan on getting a receiver anyway with 4 HDMI's to one, Using 1 for Chromecast and one for PS3/w Blu-Ray,
-Not true 120Hz refresh
-Mounting Holes seem to be low and too close together to be a great choice to use a wall mount with, but its like 16lbs so shouldn't be that bad for future mounting purposes.
-Wish Inputs were not 90 deg. but from bottom of t.v., less stress on cables+Input Board and easier to hide/better profile on wall.

Other Thoughts:

Have not owned that long but my hope is that I don't have problems with the tv, and that it at the least lasts me for a few years before the 4K's come down in price. If anything changes ill have to update the review, but so far so good.

Love Newegg btw been with them 7+ years and never had a problem with any product, and they stand with customers 100%
