Customer service & defect rate
This board died suddenly, not powering on, after good 2 yr usage. I've been royal ASUS customer since 486 processor era. Good. Gladly decided to give them a chance to reward my royalty with their customer service.
Once I submitted RMA, I got several different responses from different representatives regarding to the same RMA#(or case).
The first person said they would do 'advance RMA' for my case and had me to fill out forms including credit card # and all my info/signature to accept the conditions on the form.
After sending the signed form, another guy emailed me that advance RMA for this case cannot be set up via email and wanted me to call ASUS number.
When I called, I had to explain everything from the scratch to another guy. What a hassle. He explained advance RMA can only be applied to the purchase within 1 year and he said sorry. ****** me off but have no choice but to follow their policy. He suggested me regular RMA. Okay, do regular RMA but wasted a good day for this.
Then next day, just before I was about to leave for UPS, I got an another email from another guy that previously submitted 'advanced RMA' form is processing. Kidding me? Couldn't make a trip to UPS since all this make me confused.
Called ASUS again. The final person at CS said ignore the last message sent to me. REALLY? Missed another day for RMA due to all this chaos.
This is not the end of story.
I couldn't delay my project anymore and decided to get another board at local store. Went to m|crocenter, and, luckily, found the same model for manufacturer refurbished one.
Manufacturer refurbished? Okay, they should have QCed this for good working condition guaranteed. Paid another 150+ bucks for this and assembled my desktop again with this board.
Guess what happened. Now the board is powering on but failed to detect HDDs. Tried another good amount of time for trouble shooting. Turned out that the board is another defect product from this model. Have to make another trip to m|crocenter for return.
Being frustrated than ever, I decided to write a review for the first time of my life.
Good days for ASUS is gone. CS is poor and so is their product.
