Maybe not so much for gaming 12/16/2013
This review is from: Corsair CH-9000043-NA Raptor K30 Red LED Backlit Keyboard
Backlighting is really good on this keyboard. There is even a button to adjust the brightness to three different level along with shutting it off completely.
The charterers on the keys are not just stickers like on other keyboards, they are built into the keys so they will not wear off even after years of heavy use.
WASD and the UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT keys are silver colored to stand out from the black colored keys.
Dedicated volume and media keys keys is always a must have on all keyboards. Also features a windows lock button which I found pretty neat.
Six programmable function keys and you can add up to eighteen different functions which is great if you want to macro keys or just use them for program shortcuts.
The keyboards is pretty quiet compared to mechanical keyboards.
Software for setting up hotkeys was not included in the box, had to go to the website and obtain it.
The actual software itself could have been better designed and more user friendly for less experienced users. Though if you are buying this type of keyboard you will most likely know your way around the software.
The keys are raised way above the base of the keyboard. When playing various games, I found it very uncomfortable and often found myself hitting other keys due to these raised keys. This also makes the keyboard look really ugly in my honest opinion. If you have children I could also see them trying to pull the keys up since they have easy access to them now. Some of the keys feel really loose like they are going to come up with little effort.
Backlighting could have different colors options instead of just red.
The keyboard riser is to minimal and should have featured a higher setting.
Keyboard is too lite, I often had it shifting around when playing a game. The rubber pads were little to no help in stopping this. Adding more weight would fix this problem. The raisers did not have any rubber on them, just smooth plastic making the problem even worse.
A USB port could have been included on the keyboard like many other gaming keyboards feature so you can plug in your mouse or gaming headset.
If you are looking for gaming keyboard, you may want to look elsewhere. Even for typing I found this keyboard inadequate. This felt like a downgrade from my current membrane keyboard.
You may want a higher end membrane gaming keyboard or a Cherry MX mechanical keyboard which many people choose for gaming. The raised keys of this keyboard is just too much of a negative to recommend to anybody.
