Looks good on paper; when they get the bugs worked out it might be very good.
Caution. Many problems, please visit the WD MyCloud forum before buying (in Google search "mycloud forum". In particular, look at the thread "My Cloud disconneted itself from network." [sic] For many users the drive disappears every a few hours and has to be unplugged to be used. There has been no acknowledgement, response or workaround from WD.
I tried two with the same problem. I bought a brand new router to see if it would solve the problem, no difference. Plugged it directly into a PC with ad-hoc Windows networking. Same problem. Tried fixed-ip and several other user suggested ideas from the forums. None worked, just has they haven't for people in that thread.
It works long enough for you to spend time configuring and copying files to it. Then it just won't stay on your network. I sincerely tried to make this thing work & in the end wasted a lot of time & money on this drive. The least I can say is that if you buy it and encounter the same problem of it disappearing from the network, return it immediately. There's no fix.
I can't watch this thing getting 4 stars without warning people about this drive.
WD will probably respond to this review with troubleshooting suggestions as if they don't know about the problem. In reality, it has been a problem for almost two months with no solution from WD. There are 127 messages in the "My Cloud disconneted itself from network." thread and NOT ONE PERSON has posted that WD helped them solve the problem.
The only users that have had success had to SSH into the drive and set up a shell script to force the drive to stay awake. If you're not that technical or comfortable having to hack a brand new product, you should probably wait until they solve this problem.
