1 out of 5 eggs ECS is trash - cheaply made 01/03/2014

This review is from: ECS NM70-I2 (V1.0) Intel Celeron 1037U 1.80GHz Intel NM70 Mini ITX Motherboard/CPU Combo

This should not be a requirement for a review.

Where to begin. ECS is a sub par manufacturer. Throughout their history, their products have been made with one thing in mind, volume/price ratio. The more they sell of their inferior products, the less their return percentage will rear its' ugly head. There is a reason why a biostar motherboard, for instance, costs 20.00 more. The components (caps, solder, pwm, I/o board, components, etc) are intended to last longer than the provided warranty period, albeit not more than 4-5 years on I/o boards made today.
The worst aspect of the ECS sales model is their rebate processes. Most companies outsource their rebates to a third party to process for them. ECS has partnered with a company called VELOCITY FULFILLMENT, INC. Needless to say, rebates are getting processed. Very soon, in fact, we may see a class action suit gathering steam against both of these entities.

Other Thoughts:

Newegg is an online retailer like any other. It enjoys selling volume to please its' investors, and making profit as any company would. They profit and gain from rebate schemes compiled by manufacturers such as ECS and others. The one thing retailers do not do (like newegg), is stand behind those manufacturer rebates, instead choosing to pass the buck so to speak, to the mfg. for the responsibility of fulfilling it. The mfg. passes the buck to their third party (like Velocity). In the end, no one seems to be responsible and the customer gets hurt.

There is enough precedence in our legal system to remind these retailers they will be held responsible when the shoe drops. The rebates, after all, are advertised on newegg's site and is a compelling force in making a purchasing decision for many of us. The responsible lay squarely on all three.

Newegg, are have a great reputation amongst online shoppers. Hold your mfg. partners responsible for unprocessed rebates, or you may end up paying for it out of the profits you make when you collaborated in the first place.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear about the rebate issue you have experienced and appreciate your feedback. The rebate offers are not a scheme and if you would like to contact us we would be more than willing to work with you in finding a resolution to your rebate issue.

I or any of my team members here at technical support will be able to help you.
Our hours are Mon-Fri 9am-6pm PST.
