This is the 1st pair of headphones I have ever bought..seriously. I am more of a PC gamer than a music listener. I was looking for some "gaming" headphones for me and my son so we can talk while playing Battlefield 4. I looked at quite a few before coming across this one. I didn't want to spend more than $50 for a pair and I got these when they were on sale for $34.99! I promptly bought 2 pair and hoped for the best. I've been using them for a few days and they are fantastic! The sound quality in games is awesome...gunfire, explosions, voices, etc sound amazing..the extra bass you get with these really makes an impact. The mic is great and voice quality is crystal clear. What really shocked me was how phenomenal they sound when listening to music. I have a Creative X-Fi gamer sound card and with the Creative audio console and the Creative console launcher and using X-Fi Crystalizer and the "Theatre" setting with the EAX effects all my music sounds amazing. Highs, mids, Bass, percussion....really superb. I also have DFX Audio enhancer running too which also adds to the overall quality. Without a decent sound card and some software I don't think You'd want these for music but with my set-up and some time spent tweaking I have the sound just perfect. These are incredibly comfortable too....after a few minutes I forget i have them on...very light and comfy..and the padded earpads are very breathable...no sweaty ears. The only negative I can give is I hear a slight hiss when there is no audio playing which sometimes comes thru slightly during the quiet moment of a song. I'm not sure what causes this? either the ground for the 3.5mm plug or the USB connector may be to blame? Don't know if its the headphones fault or my PC? Either way it doesn't take away from the sound at all....its barely noticeable. I have a Yamaha 2.1 PC speaker set that I have been using for years and LOVE but I think I now prefer using these headphones...the sound is just more enveloping and "real". If your looking for a really good set of headphones and can't afford the likes of Steel series or Turtle Beach then these a real contender. I'm very happy with these...especially at $35.
