slow after a while 01/04/2014
This review is from: WD My Book Live Duo 4TB Personal Cloud Storage
after 1 month or so of use it slows down really bad, can't transfer with more speed then 500 kbps, wired straight to it or via a gigabit router.
Also it does not have a FAN and it runs hot a lot of time due to usage or even sometimes in standby, I have put a desk FAN to blow on this, runs more cooler
This is the limit with the NAS even if I have a gigabit router, better of buying a second hand server and adding new HDD's
Hi real user review, we apologize for any frustration. The My Book Live Duo has a 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet connection. Actual transfer rates can vary based on your local area network topology, hard drive disk read/write speeds, system activity, and length of cable. To achieve maximum transfer rates, we recommend using Giga-bit network devices, because your transfer rates will only be as fast as your slowest network component. You may also want to click on the following link for some suggestions on how to improve your network transfer rate.
Please ensure that the slots and openings on the top and bottom of the chassis are not blocked; to ensure proper ventilation and reliable operation of the product and to protect it from overheating, these openings must not be blocked or covered. Making sure the drive is standing upright also helps prevent overheating.
