- SATA III
512GB is big enough
Large SSDs generally live longer, because cell wear is spread out

I have several 256GB 840 Pro SSDs.
One got sick -- was taking 90 seconds to boot on Haswell i7-4770K system.
Rather than trading it for someone else's used drive, I fixed it myself:
1) Install Samsung Magician - get the latest online
2) Update the drive firmware via Magician
3) Run power cycles --
A - Turn on the computer and run 20+ minutes without touching it
B - Shut down and disconnect the drive power cable for 30+ seconds
C - Repeat A & B at least once
4) Set the drive to Maximum Reliability in Magician
5) Set up recommended Over Provisioning in Magician
My sick drive was returned to totally healthy
Before my 256GB Samsung took ill, I had never installed Magician;
now I will never run a Samsung SSD without it.
Of course, I have already used Magician to set up this new 512GB drive.
