Options, options, options. VGA, DVI, HDMI, Modes.
Plenty of controls to dial in that perfect room setting. No glare in a room with 2 windows across from each other with the desk located at the middle of the adjacent wall. Digital interface to hook up the DVI and an XBOX 360 or DVD, Blu-ray player to HDMI for options of multiple uses. We have HDMI from his 770GTX with built in HD audio. The XBOX 360 is on another flatscreen, but if you are cramped for space or don't have an additional screen, this monitor gives you options, and that is what it is about. Sound passthough is nice for a gaming tower tucked out of the way, as most headphone leads are 3-4ft in length, simply use HDMI or an audio cable to bring the headphones closer. The colors are really nice and the backlight is very bright, see cons. 2ms response time with 11ms input lag!
The factory setting seems too bright, washing out somewhat, but this is with almost all monitors calibrated from the factory, so not really a con. No deduction for this, just turn the backlight down or pick from plenty of options in the menu to calibrate the color.
Purchased for my 4 year old son, now 6, to hook to his gaming rig. He loves it. I love it. I decided to get the VX238H 1ms monitor that has dual HDMI and built in speakers for myself.
Most people confuse response time as how fast the monitor responds to gaming, this is actually input lag, two different things. While a monitor can have a low response time, the input lag can cause gaming problems, ghosting, etc. Be sure to research before dropping money on low ms response monitor, as it may have, say, 38 to 78ms input lag, something most gamers don't understand. The monitor is a critical component and the most misunderstood or over looked.
G-Sync is coming!
